Arrow Introducing the Fastmail desktop app

Fastmail just introduced dedicated desktop apps for Windows and other popular desktop operating systems. Similar Fastmail apps for iOS/iPadOS and Android mobile devices have been available for many months. Just as with the mobile device apps, you can use Mail, Contacts, Calendar, Notes, and Files. If your desktop/laptop PC supports swipes with a touchscreen, you can enable four custom swipes just as on a mobile device (right swipe long/short, left swipe long/short). My laptop PC has a touchscreen and this feature works great on it.

See the Fastmail Blog for more details:

Fastmail is now available asa dedicated desktop app for Mac, Windows, and Linux. It?s the same Fastmail you know and love, now with the focus and convenience of a standalone app.
With our desktop app you can:
  • Launch Fastmail from your dock or taskbar and find it in your platform?s app switcher.
  • Make Fastmail your default email client, so email links create a new message directly in Fastmail.
  • Work whenever, wherever, with full offline support, just like our mobile apps. You can always read your mail, manage your calendar, and write replies ? your changes sync back seamlessly when you reconnect.
If you have multiple Fastmail accounts, you can switch between these accounts using the Account icon in the upper right. If you have an avatar assigned at gravatar.com and Show avatars is enabled in the Fastmail app at the Mail preferences>Mailbox display setup screen, the Account icon will show your avatar.

Offline support is also available for recently viewed messages or all messages, just as on the mobile device app. Fastmail now has a Sync status icon on the top bar - it looks like a cloud - and this shows that the local offline cache is up-to-date with a check mark and that it is updating with the circular arrow symbol.

Great.
I wonder what the difference will be with Fmail3 (macOS). We'll see.
