Tuffmail

I went to look at Tuffmail as an alternative to Gmail as I have had issues with them today. (Posted in Gmail forum) and wanted to look into paid email.
I went to sign up for a trial account with Tuffmail as I have heard they are exceptional. I get to the sign up page and they want to know where I live, phone number etc. Why? Very uncomfortable with giving out personal info before I have decided to use them or not.
So I am looking for paid alternatives that give a free trial and do not need more details than necessary before sign up. I already have a fastmail trail, I will not use runbox as my PERSONAL experience is of slow service on IMAP. I will not discuss that just don't suggest runbox.
So I need tuffmail like reliable, a good interface, I don't like the one at fastmail, just personal taste. Although the mail send and receive is very good so far.
Alternatives to sign up for please...
Price is not an issue within reason....

Very popular nowadays in these forums is Polarismail. Similar to Tuffmail, i.o.w. very configurable backend is Rollernet. Another personal favorite is Pobox.

Many alternatives to choose from in this thread: http://www.emaildiscussions.com/showthread.php?t=64118. It all depends on your specific requirements.

I have been using Tuffmail for long days.
Just bought a mailbox with them, and bind many domains on it, used without a problem.

The billing details are not used unless you actually decide to stay with us. Otherwise, imagine how many spammers would sign up daily, max out an account's sending capabilities and then go to the next one. We actually had that for a while and got tired of shutting down spammer accounts.

Rest assured, banking details are kept confidential and again, are not used unless you choose to stay with us.

Rest assured does not reassure me. When 12 year olds are hacking into visa servers and CDs containing top secret government documents are left on trains and in taxis NOTHING reassures me.

How ever if that is their policy then I will just look else where. Thank you for your time

While there have been some high profile breaches lately, people still conduct business online.

We deal with a third party company called PayproGlobal which handles and stores all stages of the payment process. They are PCI compliant which is the processing industry's standard for handling payment details:

Polarismail

I have had a look at the enhanced email and liked the look very much. the integration with my Android phone and my MAC is very tempting.
Your reputation on this forum is good as well. That just makes it even more regrettable about the bank details thing. Of course I would give some one my details if I decide I trust them enough to purchase from them but you must understand putting those details in the hands of anyone needs to be taken seriously.
Also I have heard many tales of synchronisation, Oh yes, we sync with this and we sync with that, then when I actually try it, nothing. That or a long complicated work around because my phone is the wrong colour or the manufacturers software is at fault. It is never their fault.
No. Definitely need to try it BEFORE bank details are given.
If that can be arranged then I will give it a fair try for 30 days and if it works as promised I will sign up for the enhanced mail paying a year upfront. If it doen't work then I will give a fair assessment of what was going wrong and give you a chance to fix it or explain it. If it can be fixed then great! if not then we go our separate ways no harm.

email.

So the search goes on. I wish I had not looked at Polaris now.

I have seen the interface and the claimed sync ability, which would solve a lot of my problems replacing the the functionality I have with Gmail.

Now I do not just need email I need an integrated email, address, calendar syncing solution. If nothing else I suppose that cuts down the choices a bit!

Seems to me that the e-mail service provider deserves some personal information about its customers for billing, customer service, fraud and spam control. For example, if its credit card charge doesn't go through, they want to be able to contact you and bill you by another means. What if your email doesn't function because of a technical issue outside of its control where another means of communication is necessary such as postal mail or telephone?
