Feature request: feedback submission box from within beta webmail interface

I've been using fastmail beta since the new interface was announced. It would encourage feedback from beta users if some kind of submission box or link was prominent from the webmail interface. I know I would have submitted more feedback earlier if an obvious place to submit it was there.

That's because Neil & Johan (who appear to be heading up this new redesign) seemingly don't want our input. Users have been clamoring for calendaring and sync for many, many years now. They, however, appear to be intent on dumbing things down and implementing features from Gmail that they have determined that the "average user" wants.

Here are just a few of the regressions introduced in the new-new (AJAX) interface:

Threading is nice for some, annoying for others. Months after it was added, FM has refused to provide a way to disable it, regardless of the numerous requests for it.

Virtual aliases are no longer the default reply address, and on-the-fly reply addresses are no longer an option. That leaves those of us who use them extensively without an alternative in the new-new interface. They've not addressed this after months of requests either.

The dot menu commands have been drastically neutered, and unless you know what Gmail's shortcuts are, you'll be lost in the new interface. Underscores under each active shortcut key ala most windowing interfaces would be good indicators, but alas, not here.

Visual resource usage indicators are gone, replaced with just text. Very easy to remedy, but alas, not happening.

Many other hotkeys, such as "I"mage loading (to fix the broken image loading based on saved addresses), no longer work.

The reading pane is extremely narrow, especially on widescreen monitors. Since custom stylesheet support is still broken, users must resort to browser add-ins, such as Stylish, to fix these.

This is not true at all. We're very interested in feedback, and do take note of what people say. The way we prioritise feature development may not match with your preferred order, but we can't please everyone I'm afraid.

icework_bind: Thanks for the suggestion. It would be good for people to be able to leave feedback directly from the beta interface; I'll add it to the list in our internal task management system.

Neil.

In the past we had a wiki.
