Lightbulb The Storage Announcement

OK, here's the storage announcement (soon to be posted on the blog - but you get to read it here first! ).

All customers are getting more stuff, for no extra cost! Full and enhanced subscribers get the best deal - many thanks for the support of all of you. Here's what's happening:
  • Full subscribers get 600MB email storage, enhanced get 2GB
  • Full: bandwidth per month 300MB; Enhanced: 1GB
  • Bonus - all Full and Enhanced subscribers get a one-time free extra bandwidth pool of 600MB (full) and 2GB (enhanced) - this is for those times when you need a bit extra for archiving, migrating mail, etc
  • Hourly bandwidth: Full - 150MB; Enhanced - 500MB
  • Hourly message quota: Full - 1000; Enhanced - 2000
  • File storage quota: Guest and member: 1MB; Full 30MB; Enhanced: 250MB
  • Special offer for members: Trade in your member level account for a $15 credit, when you upgrade to Full or Enhanced. (If you don't renew after upgrading, you will go back to guest, not member).
We'll be implementing these upgrades in September, and all current and new users will get them for free. The special offer for upgrading from members applies to everyone, no matter how long you've been with us, and how much you originally paid!

The new levels here will replace the old levels when this upgrade is implemented.

Edited Oct 1, to clarify $15 credit policy

Well..... that certainly removes any doubts that I've had. Thanks Jeremy! Time to deposit some more pennies with FM so that the old enhanced account can continue ad-infinitum!

Overall, this sounds like an excellent improvement, especially for enhanced users. I'm a little surprised that all account levels except 'full member' are getting extra file space though.

Hopefully this will bring a long-running, sometimes bitter, debate to a close and we can all start moaning about desired new features now...

Thanks for the announcement.

Wow!

This is great news!

I did not doubt Fastmail for one second, which is why I upgraded my Full account into an Enhanced one two weeks ago.

Keep up the great work guys.

Hi Jeremy,

Thanks for putting it up right on time. Sounds to me like a great deal. 600MB is more than enough, and to be honest, I am not too hyped about the bw upgrades, but I am glad you kept them in check to fit your business model. Btw, any change in the way you compute bw?

I knew FM couldn't let us down. Thanks again.

Oh, and any chance we could consolidate our Member account to a Full account and apply a $15 credit to the Full account? (hehe... just seeing where my imagination takes me).

I am thinking about that one still - perhaps we'll increase Full file storage a little... I'll see what Rob thinks.

This means I'll be using all of 7.1% of the 2 GB storage

Cool Fastmail Rocks! :D

Just great. I've given my sister a gift certificate to make her "member" some weeks ago, and I'm planning on making my wife "member" and myself "Full" too.

I suspected FM wouldn't let us down. I just hope the changes won't harm the business

Let's hope the angry users don't feel the need to keep complaining about everything. Gee, I guess they'll complain about the supposed "delay" in making this announcement.

I, for one, am happy with the timing regardless of my anxiety

Thanks again

Ezequiel

If I use less than 1%, will it register? I need some email friends or I'm going to feel storageally challenged. In fact, if anyone does anything stupid because they register as 0% with me, then I'm going to start a class action against Jeremy!!!!

Actually, to ward this off, Jeremy, instead of 0% storage, could it say "Don't worry, you are significant and loved!"
