Gmail very slow
I got an account at Gmail and found it very slow. I tested both sending and receiving. The sending part was ok but when it came to receiving, it usually took around half a day or even more to receive the the message while the other accounts where the messages were copied to received them alomost immediately. Where is the problem?

They are still beta, so the slowness could be part of some stress test or monitoring process.

my exp with Mails send/receive is instantaneous! might be some beta testing... so if u find any problem with gmail just say beta ![]() |

I find the interface very fast once it loads. The sending and receiving is normally fast, but I have seen periods when it's been quite slow and periods where things just hang for a bit. It's definitely a beta product.

I hope the slowness in receiving, and sending is becasue of the beta status. Otherwise it will be disappointing since at this stage, gmail system is not running at its full load. If it opens its registration......

I don't experience any slowness in both sending and receiving operation with various accounts like hotmail, yahoo, isp and university. And perhaps it's still in beta stage, it's not uncommon that some testing and fine tuning slow down the process

its really faster than everyother email provider
I totally agree with pingme97. its slow while starting infact takes a good 10 sec but once the interface loads up its amazingly fast. Its almost instantaneous. However, i have noticed everytime i clear my cookies i takes a lot more time to even get to the gmail login page. i know it sounds stupid but everytime i clear all cookies (firefox .9) , it takes a lot of time to get gmail login page and sometimes get errors like this doc contaisn no data.

Hello
I dont have gmail yet, but i have hotmail, what do you guys mean by fast? I have a 3mb connection and usually loading a page takes not even more then a couple of seconds? If you guys saying this gmail is slow how slow is it,because my friend who lives downstairs from has gmail and it loaded up in 2 seconds (3mbps connection). Using different internet sources would make a real big difference? I prefer using mozilla firefox and i also have the IE.
I am very interested in learning about gmail, so please dont take the questions so noobish. |

Gmail, it has its days. While your account is virtually unaccessible, others can access their email effortlessly. Just wait a day or two, it WILL get better.

i acess net with a 56 k modem and it connects at best with a speed of 45 kbps
I guess the subject says it all. On an average dayy it takes me about 7-10s to get to the sign in page and another 10 s for the interface to load up. On a bad day, the operation times out pretty often. Virtually inacessible. Some times it takes a good full minute. I had a simialar problem with orkut in the begining but tis much faster now than what it was. Hopefully, things will get better.

Overall, Gmail sounds like it's faster than Spymac. Good to know. I don't have a Gmail account, but have tried out Spymac and was frustrated by the slowness of it all; and I have a blazing broadband connection!

Yes, GMail is many times faster than Spymac and has a much better interface too. Doesn't have the file storage though.
