GMail's nine month expiration policy

GMail clearly says in their user terms that they only delete accounts that are inactive for more than 9 months in a row.

But I wonder... they are in a trial period now. That means they want to get feedback from their current users.
If a user only rarely logs in, he cannot give much comments. And you can't force someone to e-mail you, can you ?

So is the nine months expiration policy in rule right now as well, or will they delete accounts after a shorter period of inactivity at this stage ??

I think it is the rule right now. If they were to shut down beta accounts after a shorter, undisclosed amount of time, they'd risk seriously POing those whom they want to be their advocates. Not a good idea.

9 months is a long time. If you don't log in at all you don't need gmail.

But doesn't it take 5 years to fill up? Why check before then?

I agree with you totally Killer!!

You obviously aren't in need of the account if you are only planning on logging in that infrequently!!

Susan.
