I am not that focused on actors and actresses, more on the subject of the film. Who is in it doesn't matter that much to me. And most films I watch are not mainstream (= no Hollywood productions or other films with big budgets, I prefer the so-called "arthouse" cinemas or "independent cinema").

If I have to single out one actor though: Anthony Hopkins.

His role as Hannibal was just fantastic acting. It's a pity this man is coming at a really high age, so I don't know if he will continue his acting career. But he is an amazing actor.

As an actor I'm not a fan of Leonardo DiCaprio (simply because he plays in the type of films I'm not really into), but I do admire how he uses his fame for charity and for trying to awaken the world about the problems our planet and its societies are facing. If you are famous and your voice is being heard, it's always nice if you use it for the good cause. Hats off to Leonardo for that.

Thee are some actors I like enough that I would check out a film just because they play in it.

Some of them:
  • Maggie Smith.
  • Helena Bonham Carter.
  • Adam Driver.
  • Dustin Hoffman.
  • And many more...
A good actor would play well a variety of very different types of characters.

Interesting how you mention this movie. I just tried watching it yesterday but I couldn't get through it. I think modern movies have ruined me to try and enjoy older movies.

One thing I want to mention is to try and separate their ability from the human. There are a few actors who I used to really like but found out something about their personal life that I didn't agree with. For instance, I used to like Edward Norton but found out he's a bit of a d%ck.
