Undelivered Mail Returned to Sender
Hello.
Last days, I receive 10-20 emails per day with above subject. I would like your opinions about what causes this issue. Thank you in advance. |

Trivial suggestion: you send 10-20 emails per day with non-existent delivery addresses.
Less trivial suggestion: somebody sends 10-20 emails per day with non-existent delivery addresses and with a fake From: address, i.e. using your address as a sender. |

This is called backscatter, and there is nothing you can do to prevent anyone from spoofing your address as From in their messages. If they send to a non-existent mailbox the bounce message will be returned to you.
If you happen to be a Fastmail customer there is a filter you can use to remove most of these. Some other services might have a similar feature, but Fastmail is the only one I'm familiar with. If all of these are being bounced from the same target address or domain, you might be able to use filtering features in your email account or client. But in general there is little you can do about this problem. Bill |

Here is a lot more background info on backscatter, in case you are interested:
https://luxsci.com/blog/bounce-back-...l-address.html LuxSci also has a filter for that in case you are one of our customers. |
