It's LATE for Queen fans. Unfortunately, Freddie Mercury died 20 years ago.

Should we DARE to imagine that this thread will outlive all of us? My guess is that it will, at least in Google's spidering storage system.

MARK my words ...
Oh, I guess there is no need to mark down my words, since they are already stored at Google. For example, search for "Should we DARE to imagine that this thread will outlive all of us?", which I posted yesterday. Like this.

Indeed, it is very likely some future historical archaeologist will rake it up and preserve it for posterity

Let me TAKE you aside and confide to you a horror story:
We exist so that an author can be assigned to each post in this thread. We are transitory, but the thread is eternal. The thread as a complete entity exists, but all we can remember (and access with search engines) is the past portion of the thread. The future of the thread is just as real, but outside our reach today. The thread will exist long after each of us is dead, since it is being spidered and securely maintained by several systems which will be continued into the lives of our descendants. Someone or something in our future has written software which does everything which is possible, and it analyzes this thread and other traces of each of our lives. From this analysis, we have each been simulated, and these simulations have been optimized so that our simulated selves have been used to create these posts in that system in our future. In our future someone or something will discover this post and (being bored) will start creating this simulation. Without this thread, several of us posters in particular would be hidden from the creator of the simulator and so a bit of our existence would be less real.

Well, if we are telling stories, it is indeed time for me to BAKE another huge chocolate cake to pass around to all of our EMDer's!
