Bug in the Add Addresses screen?
Click on Address Book, Click on a Group, click on Create New button
Type in Last Name, First Name, and an Email Address. Select "Save Address" then Select "Save and Done" Search on the name I just entered - and the address does not exist. 5 minutes later, it finally exists (and all the others I had entered). These are not, however, in the group that was selected at the time. So a few "behaviour not as expected" issues: 1. Addresses are not appearing immediately after they are entered, leaving the user to believe that the address was not entered at all. 2. Addresses are not being added to the group that was selected while creating a new one 3. There is no option to select a group while looking at the "Add Address" screen. /CL |

I've asked Richard to check it out when he's got a moment...

I think this is a case of poor documentation leading to you using the Address book incorrectly, and a missing feature (group selection in the Add Address screen) which would make adding a new full address entry easier.
New addresses appear instantly for me. Selecting a group allows you to see the members of that group, but it does not affect the Create New feature. Create New always creates a new address with no group assignment. You must select the new entry from the main list (select the check box) and use the + tool to add it to a group, or the - tool to remove it from a group. Note that you will need to select the <All addresses> or <No group> items to see the new entry. The Search feature only finds addresses within the group selection you are viewing. There is another way to quickly add an address which is easier: You first select a group to view it. Then scroll to the bottom of that group to the Quick add box. Enter the desired data and click Add Address. This new address will be in the group you are currently viewing. Bill |

Noted on the other issues, however it was a good 5 or more minutes before these addresses showed up as having been added. I searched each address book group that I had, including all addresses.
As long as it is working now. Thanks. /cl |

While we're on the subject, how do I create a group?
Doesn't seem to be any way to do it on the "Create New" page - that appears to be only for adding addresses. I just read and searched through the Help documents and I cannot find any instruction as to how to create a group. Thanks. Jim |

On address book screen - left hand side above <all addresses> - Groups (Add/Edit) - just click add/edit and it opens an "Edit Address Groups" screen

I've changed the behaviour so that 'Create New' also creates addresses in the current group, if there is one.
I suspect that the addresses were probably created immediately, but that a search was active that did not select them. This is quite easy to do, I've done it myself a number of times, and I'm not entirely sure how to fix it. I've tried to reduce this problem by improving the message shown when the search doesn't select any addresses, but that doesn't help when the search selects some addresses, just not the ones you're expecting. At the moment I have no immediate plans to add a group selection section to the individual 'Edit Address' screen, but I'll put a ticket in so that we consider it later. Richard. |
