I didn't get a chance to express my thanks and admiration in my previous post, so I'd like to do that now Thanks FM!

Some good questions also in this thread.

I'm curious if the Full/Enhanced file monthly/hourly bandwidth will also be increased at all (given that the file storage allowance is increased, and that the mail storage allowance and monthly/hourly bandwidth are also increased)? For example, will Enhanced also get 1GB/month (500MB/hour) file bandwidth or will it remain at 750MB/month (250MB/hour)?

And since storage and bandwidth have been given a boost, will you offer cheaper one-time extra storage and extra bandwidth costs? For example will a $25 one-time fee be able to get us more than the 100MB extra currently? Though I realize no one will likely have a reason to upgrade beyond 2GB storage Also will 1GB extra bandwidth pool still cost $8-10 for Full/Enhanced?

P.S. Some people who've already bought extra storage before might also want any new $/MB ratio applied to past extra storage purchases retroactively, but I personally wouldn't ask for this in my case.

Edit: Added questions...

A couple of more questions - when you stated "We'll be implementing these upgrades in September" - was it more like Sptember 1st or September 30?
Is there a reason it takes such a relatively long time to implement it?
With all the hoopla going on in the email world, having waited several months to make these decisions, it would be in your nterest to announce it to the world as soon as possible. However you can not do it unless it is already in effect (in my view Hotmail made a mistake).

In any event - great news for this Tuesday morning!

I know that we're not supposed to do a "me too" post, but I MUST add my all the gushing accolades that have already been said!!!! And let's face it, we beat the storage issue to death when we weren't hearing anything, we should be praising them to death now that we have.

And from the "You knew one of us was going to do it department"...
Does this mean that SusanUKF will finally upgrade all of her accounts to an enhanced?

And to think that at one point "I was considering leaving FastMail for (name) because..." -- I don't just have egg on my face, I've got the whole omlette on my face!!!

Maybe it would be wise for the FM staffers to take the questions and answers posted here and create an "Upgrade FAQ" for all to see?

FM Support will probably get bogged down with upgrading questions in the near future.

Thanks for the welcome changes. Still hoping you increase Full members file storage; as you say "thanks for the support" but fail to reward long-time subscribers except enhanced (in terms of file storage).

On the other hand, if not for beating it to death or for considering leaving, we'll never be certain anything was going to change on its own.

Thanks for the news!
I, also, would like to know the answer to this one. It could be a good thing for FM to allow this even now to get more money rolling in.

My wife and I both have member accounts (that used to be Full) and both will probably be upgraded. I know mine will...I'm considering skipping to Enhanced.

Well, I was expecting some more mailbox space for the Guest level users

This announcement now firmly projects FM as the leading Paid email service.
For the free users though, I guess its time to packup their bags & head for Yahoo !!

Its a good idea

I think it is a good to test service with free account and have enough encoragement in offer or differentiator between guest and paid so serious guest will be tempted to buy the home

Good Move FM

I agree to an extent. Although as a Full subscriber I am happy, my friend who is a member is unhappy. Whilst he appreciates that full and enhanced should get more than members, he has PAID for his account and feels he should get far more storage. His actual words were (when I emailed him the announcement):

Well what do I get then!? It best be something good or I'll defo swop over to GMail when it's released!!!

Like I say I'm happy - but some members certainly might not be.

The argument has been made before, I believe: Since Member accounts are not subscription-based, no one can expect FM to upgrade those accounts down the road. You get what you paid for, just like when you pay for a television set or a car.

I have a Gmail account, and an FM member account, and there is just no comparison as to what you can do with them. The storage factor is a big factor, but Gmail would have to come a long way for me to feel comfortable using them as my main service.

I can see possibly still using an FM member account as a front service, with messages being forwarded to Gmail as main storage, if I didn't want to spend any more money.

Yeah, I'm really happy for the full / enhanced users, because they absolutely deserve all the new upgrades since they're paying annually, but as a member, I was hoping for more space. I'm still staying with FM, though, of course. It just would've been nice. Oh well, at least our file storage got upgraded.

This is good news indeed Jeremy, but to get on my hobby hourse again (and I think this announcement about the vast storage space available):

WHEN ARE YOU GOING TO RAISE THIS 10MB LIMIT ON MAILS AND MORE IMPORTANTLY ON UPLOADS TO THE FILE STORAGE?????

A very fair example in my opinion as subscriber

The only thing is that you would expect your TV to be relatively future proof - digital compatable etc - for a certain amount of time afterwards. My friend brought a members account in February - and is a little annoyed that he can now get more storage for free from many email carriers. Bad luck I know - but you can see his point.
