As others have already pointed out (and as you yourself implicitly acknowledge), Rule H isn't applicable here; it isn't MP3s as such that are illegal, it's the contents of some (well, actually most — but still not all) MP3s...

I get sick of this kind of argument, that something should be banned in its entirety because part of it is bad; it's also used by some idiotic webspace providers, to ban hosting of ZIPfiles for what they call "obvious" reasons...
