FM, Runbox or Gmail?
Which is the daddy?
I have an enhanced FM account and want to know how others think that their paid for accounts stack up to Gmail What do the informed members of this forum think, and can you post a 'why' if possible please to inform those who are not so lucky.... I voted for Gmail
I opted for Gmail though I am a paid member of runbox
![]() The reasons - Facinated by use of "labels" - Clean Interface - Free GB storage - Hope that Gmail will add much awaited options POP/IMAP eitehr free or paid - At least a feeling about company stability in long terms |

Is there a MB limit to the size of mails one can send recieve pingme? FMs 10MB limit on both e-mail (acceptable) and on fie storage (totally unacceptable) gets my goat sometimes.

I voted for Other, since I use Mailsnare and really think it should have been included. Maybe in the next poll...

I voted for Fastmail. I am on a trial account with Runbox, and though I am going to still play with it, I am not impressed so far. FM, even though it doesn't come with a bazillion tons of storage, is still what I prefer. If anyone can tell me why I should keep Runbox, that would be great....maybe I am missing something?

This probably should not be posted here, nor in the FM or Runbox forums. Probably the Comments, Questions thread would be a better place for this. It is not unknown nor inconceivable that the forums for particular services are likely to be dominated (more so by other forums) by enthusiasts for that service.

I chose Fastmail. I have 4 member accounts and 1 Full Account that I have bought for five years. Anything of any importance to me is stored on one of them, and will remain my favourite and most reliable email provider.

I'm not so sure...a "Is Fastmail your primary email service?" poll will IMHO give you >80% "Yes" in the FM forum, but less than 50% if posted in the Miscellanea forum.

I think the comments relating to accuracy are fair, and to an extent completly unavoidable, but let me suggest why I posted this thread here:
1. Although these forums are likely to be dominated by FM users there are forums for users of other services. Although there is a disparity in terms of posts between FM and other mail sytems, this might not be so accute in terms of the numbers of users of those systems which also have a GMail account. 2. I think that this forum was the appropriate place to put this poll as persons who are viewing this forum are likley to have Gmail. Those replying to this thread should have Gmail. Therefore this avoids people who have, say, FM and nothing else replying to the poll because they see it in the FM section and feel a bit loyal - it should, if anything, skew the poll in favour of Gmail users, going some way to making up for the skew in favour of FM loyalists described above. 3. By suggesting that respondents might want to give a reason for their post I was hoping that people might actually think about the reasons they are voting. If we can identify the things about GMail that are better than the features of our current faviourite, we give that company the opportunity to know what we want and implement it - giving us what we want. I gaurantee the other e-mail companies are all over this, so let's tell 'em what we want. Larry |
