Yes, there was, on this forum. I remember I had so many invites to give out, and not enough takers. Someone was always beating me to the punch at giving them out.

Ah! I see at least two people got theirs from a blog giveaway.

What's interesting is that I've had little luck giving them away outside of this forum. I didn't do a blog giveaway, because I don't always get back to check that. I offered them on my son's site and had one taker. I offered them on another musician's site and had one person who was "thinking about it" for so long that I think I lost the chance to give anything away in the very last round, because I was holding one for her. When I finallygave up and gave it away here, there were no more invitations forthcoming. I gave one to my husband and he likes it. Offered one to my son but he declined, as did my daughter. New e-mail accounts are not universally interesting to everyone out there.

That's crazy! Now, I'm trying so hard to get one and it's like looking for that proverbial needle in the haystack.

You know, psalzer, it's true. There are loads of people I know who cling to their free 2MB Hotmail accounts. I've evangelized the virtues of Fastmail - and even Yahoo! Mail - to them, but they mostly are scared to switch and/or learn something new even if it IS better/more efficient than what they currently have. But I can understand them not wanting to change email addresses because that could be a pain. But still...
I don't know if this applies to the rest of the world population outside of my group of friends and family I was referring to, though.

Well, in any case, I'd be glad to take an invitation off your hands.

It was worth a shot...

It will be even harder to convince Hotmail users of the merits of Yahoo or Fastmail services this fall when they increase to 250mb of space for free, as those in the general public that may notice the difference will be even more determined to keep their Hotmail.

Don't have any now. When and if they give us more, we'll be giving them away here.

Edited to say that there was one person offering eternal youth in exchange for an account. If that can be conferred retroactively, I'm afraid that person has the edge with me.

Aw shucks, Susan! Thanks for the kind words.
I'm already messing around with my settings. My eyes are going:

Would you take points away from me for not being a Swede by birth? I'm actually a former New Yorker living in Sweden and "married" to a Swedish woman.

I have some nice American friends as well, I was referring to the majority of my net friends, many of which I met through Skype actually. Some of the nicest Americans I have met on the net are from this forum... and a few through my Dungeons and Dragons forums...

Susan.
