Unhappy Angelfire.com mail is gone

Hello Everyone,

I logged in to check my email and war redirected to a page where this message is displayed:

"On May 31, 2004, Angelfire Email was discontinued as a service and all email stored here was not saved."

"Please note that service on Angelfire.com, our web-hosting platform, has NOT been affected by the Angelfire mail shutdown. Angelfire.com continues to provide its award-winning blog and web building services. The decision to close Angelfire Email was a very difficult one for us. However, this change enables Angelfire to provide greater support to its key products, like blogs, and allows us to focus on developing new features that you’ve asked for. So stay tuned and thank you for your past support!"

Peace,
reddartfrog

They are actually using Lycos Mail instead.

Angelfire and LycosMail are all part of the TerraLycos family.

It's a shame they didn't give you time to move your stored e-mails, or did they?

Perhaps you took a long time to login your mail?

I had an account with Angelfire a while back. Can you still build a website with them? Or has that changed to TerraLycos as well?

You can still build websites on angelfire, but the banners and popup and the search toolbar will drive people up walls.

I found that when I used it to create an academic website for materials and links that students could use.

Angelfire, a web host aimed at teens and young adults, and Tripod, another web host, are all under the Terra Lycos network. Both have blog features and all the ads (free accounts).

My Tripod account has a banner ad at the top and a smaller Tripod ad at the bottom of the page. If it also has popups, I don't know, because I have a popup blocker enabled.

Since Terra Lycos offers web mail service, it wouldn't make sense to offer e-mail under the web hosting domains also. Too much to manage, I think. There used to be web mail under the HotBot.com name, but that was merged with LycosMail a few years ago.
