I am using 'parentfolder.subfolder@myaccount' to auto sort incoming mail.
It works, but FM does not register that any incoming mail has been recieved into the subfolder until I open the folder. Surely it should be updating in the folders navigation box, all my other folders do this. Why is it not working as it should? Larry |

(Sorry to reply to my own question but I thought that others might be interested.)
The answer seem to be that sub-folders update every 10 mins rather than the pretty much instantaneous update seen with 'normal' folders. The reason why my test mails were not being seen was because I was not waiting long enough. It is also possible to force update through refresh. (FM support supplied this so no credit to me!) |

I wonder what the rationale is behind this update policy? And does the refresh time vary by depth of folder generally or is it merely a top-folder/not-top-folder distinction? ... Just curious.

I believe it to be a simple top-bottom distinction. I tried a 'sub-sub folder' if you like and it refreshed after about ten mins as well.
As for the reason for this I can not imagine. I would have thought that the FM system will see sub-folders as just another folder, rather than something specifically representing a sub-section of a parent folder. If so I can not see a 'resource based' reason for limiting to checks to ten mins, especially when poll can check (all?) folders every 5 mins. What is the result of the poll/fastcheck with mail in subfolders? Larry |

I believe poll only checks the Inbox.
FastCheck checks other folders, and it does not need to wait for this "10 Minute Update". Occasionally I get a new message, quickly log in to the web interface, and have to go check FastCheck to see what folder the new message is in because the folder list has not yet been updated. |

So fastcheck does the same as hitting refresh but within the programme?
Perhaps someone might suggest getting its author to make FC refresh the account as well as itself, then at least there would be no problme for those using FC. (Although either because I am numb or becuase something doesn't work right on my PC I can't make FC work on my dial-up - It works fine on the LAN at work though so I assume I do set it up right and it is a problme with my home PC. Any suggestions would be welcome despite their offtopicness!) Larry |

Basically, it's supposed to be:
1. Current folder always updates 2. Any folder where email moved/copied to always updates 3. All other folder update every 10 minutes 4. All folders are updated immediately if you click 'Refresh' button Basically it's a load issue, not having to issue status checks on all folders every request, and 10 minutes seems reasonable while just moving about doing stuff, but if you really want to know, you can click Refresh...
