Auto-Filing by POP Retrieval.
I want to set up my account to auto-file into a particular folder all e-mail arriving in my account from a particular pop link.
Would I be better using 'envelope' or 'advanced' in the define rules section? If envelope, would the best way to find out the number of the mail server the link comes from be by sending myself a mail from the account in question and then checking by selecting 'show full message header' in the read screen. Would this work. Is there an easier way? Can you give an example of the mail server number of FM so I know what sort of thing I am looking for? If advanced is the way forward what would I do. Or am I talking balls when there is a really simple way to achieve this that I haven't seen? Larry. If there isn't a simple way why doesnt FM add this type of option to the define rules section. |

Pop-link mail has the X-LinkName header for this
Use an advanced test like header is: "X-LinkName" "Mail&News" |

I am afraid that I dont get what you mean.
Although I think this is due to my lack of knowledge about PCs rather than your explanatory skills! Could you give me a the extended version for dim-wits? Larry ![]() |

1. Set up a folder for your POP link mail under Options>Folders.
2. Set up a rule to file all your POP mail in to this folder by going to Options>Define Rules and scroll down to the "Mailing Lists/File Into Folders" section. Under ‘look in’ choose ‘Advanced’. Under ‘for text matching’ type Quote:
Under ‘Folder’ choose the folder you want it filed into. |

I was doing this but I get the following error message:
Warning, your Rules are disabled, because your script does not compile: line 7: parse error I assume this means I am doing something wrong. Should I just be clicking done and ignoring this error message? Larry ![]() |

I'd put the colon in the wrong place!

Thanks Guys
It works a treat. Do FM not have this in the FAQ section? It should be there. Larry |
