Well, I think it does require some mysticism.
Situation: I am looking for the address of a certain company that someone gave me. I don't remember who it was that sent me the address, it probably came several years ago. So I do a simple search (Subject, to, from) using parts of the supposed Address and the name of the company. No results. My next option is I have to do a "body: " search or an advanced search for the name of the company. I did this, and the search failed after 2 minutes. I get the following message: There was a timeout performing your search. The mailbox will be automatically indexed to improve future search speed. Please try again in a few minutes (HINT: you can click "Show saved" to get your last search) Now, the interesting thing is that I performed another search earlier in the day and it also timed out saying that it would index my mailbox.... These indexes seem to last for an extremely short time. This experience does not change my view at all that: Searches with Fastmail are SLOW, INEFFECTIVE and practically useless. |

UPDATE:
Got a message from Fastmail Support... New Search capabilities are currently being developed. They should go into production "in a month or so." Good news. |
