Service still up in 2026

Hi, just wanted to share, I just logged in to the 5x2 service and it's still there. Strangely enough, the announcement about closure in 2025 still appears, but only once and only to Email clients. not to the web interface.

And also, in title they say it'd be 30th of June, but in text they say it'd be 31st July. And now we have March 2026. Service still there. You can even register new account etc.

Unfortunately, no new registrations are possible at the moment.

Never heard of this service. I spent almost a year living and working in Germany, never heard of it (although granted, maybe the service was launched after I had already left Germany again).

When I lived in Germany, I noticed the local email warked was already a bit "full".
There is GMX.net which is extremely popular in Germany, there is Web.de which is also very widely used in Germany, to lesser extent there is t-online.de ... In more recent years Mail.de also entered the local email market. And on top of that some people just use the email service provided by their ISP.

In other words, the email market in Germany is quite competitive as it it. I guess it's hard to be competitive in a market with so many established players already. GMX.net and Web.de for example have been around for nearly or over 20 years.

I deliberately don't mention Tuta, Posteo and Mailbox.org, even though they're German too, but they offer a different type of clients compared to the majority of Germans using email.
