iPods are $800??? I have a minidisc, it only cost me $125. And I love it--can get 80 songs on a disc, and they're so small to carry around.

I've long since thought that it would be a good idea for blank CD, DVD and MP3s....to have royalties included within their prices, that way no one is breaking any laws.

yes!depends on the ipod. but yes between $600&$800just for the storage divice!!!! plus $1 or more a track for apple! I bought a mp3 player recorder 2 years ago which i use as a digital dictation machine cost $80. Today mp3 s $200+ popular Like you i have a minidisc i got about 4years ago an awia and a local hypermarket had a sale minidiscs half price .Now its about to die as a standard, so im looking for one with usb and optical lines in then i can record what i want! Never having used a usb on minidisc i cant be sure but if it works as the mp3 does i can load tracks really fast then i play via the boats sound system --the casset adapter--works!!! or direct in my car, i have an old 1968 minicooper its a bit loud but music helps! and i cant aford to pay for downloads. fiona |

My minidisc (by Sony) has a USB and I can just upload the music to SonicStage (the software it uses) and from there, add it to a disc. It makes it easy to move around/add and remove songs. One of my friends has a better version of one where you can record straight from the radio or television, or plug a mic into it, but I just needed one for music
![]() When I get downloads, I get them from MusicMatch (they have a fairly nice blues selection), iTunes and Napster. BuyMusic.com (or Buy.com) hardly ever had anything I wanted. The only thing that annoys me is that I can't download them and then put them on my minidisc--I have to download them, burn them to a CD, and then I'm able to add them. It's an extra step that results in a lot of extra CDs laying around ![]() It would be nice to have an iPod, and be able to have all (or at least, most) of my CDs in one device, but I've heard that the batteries don't last too long? Or something about them dying, and then costing almost as much to replace as it would be to buy a new unit? Does anyone know anything about that? If I'm going to spend $300 on an iPod, I want it to last for some time... |

i pod theres a brand new version just out un like the previouse models it has a 12 hour life, apple tell us in their news letter" the $300 version may only be a 5giga model. im not sure if its flash memory or a HHD for music i check out www.musicplasma.com from there i can find new tracks and music, and hear a 10second snip then i go look for the download unfortunatly i cant aford the $1 a track and yes itunes dont have what i want either. i want the usb as there are internet radio stns that put out digital quality if you have the conection, then i can record dicreatly via usb i hope. yesterday i got an ofer a sony mz-e10 for $75 normal price about $280 sadly it was a play only but the write ofer will arrive soon. p.s i down or upload music to "my music file" there i can listen and surf or load the down but not uploaded tracks to my mp3 i can also burn them to cd or direct to a casset tape i use in the car some times--its just recording in real time --slow-- and you can do the same to the mini disc--in real time fionaLast edited by cybergirlfiona : 24 Jul 2004 at 10:25 PM. |

I heard something about the batteries wearing out/breaking within a year...I'll have to google for it...
Ah...I think this is what I was thinking of. Well, if they offer a warranty now, that's much better... |
