I keep getting notified on an alternative email address of any email that gets tagged as having a virus. This keeps happening even though I have Virus Protection turned off!
I have searched every area within the Options menu trying to find where that email address has been stored but cannot find it to change it! And it is NOT the backup email address. That is set to something else. I seem to remember a point where in the Account Preferences screen under virus protection, you had an option to provide an email address to send notifications if there was a virus. I can't seem to find this anymore. Please help. Also, I apologize if this is in the wrong thread. I am a forum rookie. Last edited by garbage : 28 Sep 2003 at 03:31 AM. |

Hi,
Welcome to Emaildiscussions.com, hope you'll like it here. As long as it's about Fastmail this is the forum for it, any other provider should be in the other forums. So, yeah, you hit the right spot. I don't have a one-size-fits-all answer to this, really. It seems strange that the virus notifications are still coming even with Protection off... Let me get this straight: 1) You have an account at FM, say 'joecitizen@fastmail.fm'. 2) You also have another account, say 'joeblow@example.com' 3) Your example.com account receives the virusnotifications from viruses sent to the FM account. 4) Disabling Virus Protection did not stop the notifications. As far as I know the notifications should only be sent to your FM account, not the backup address. You can change the backup address in the Account Preferences menu, but I doubt that this is the cause. Could you perhaps have a Rule (Options - Define Rules) that forwards to your other account, which may be triggered by the virus notification? Hope this helps a bit, --K |

Hi Kander. Thanks for your response.
that is what happens. Lets say i have a third email account johndoe@another.com I don't have that account specified in any page within options. My account preferences second email is joeblow@example.com but I don't get the notifications there. So, if a virus is detected (usually there are a couple of attachment files starting with AT000...) I get a notification at johndoe@another.com saying that a virus was detected and can then see the truncated email in my joecitizen@fastmail.fm account. I have no forwarding/redirecting rules setup. All are just "put in this folder" rules. Should i send an email to the Fastmail.fm admin? |

Hrm, I see... very strange. Yes, I think mailing the Admin would be a good idea.
http://www.fastmail.fm/mail/?MLS=Ver...;MSignal=SU-@0 - Use this form, mailing support will result in a link to that same form to get into the Support Ticket System. --K |

Ok
Please do post the outcome of this, if you ever find it out, so that people who encounter the same problem can find the solution through a Forum search.--K |
