Mailing List Forwarding Problem

I receive a mailing list that is setup to go to it's own folder, which works properly. However, when I setup a forwarding rule (one that sends the mailing list to my friend) it creates a duplicate of the list -- one goes to it's own folder, and the other goes to the inbox.

Why should forwarding an email put an extra copy in the inbox?

You will have to get into Advanced screen, and put an explicit stop; statement after the forwarding(instead of the keep. The keep; statement is filing the mail into Inbox.

This very well may be the way that FM is handling the mail, but it really doesn't make sense. I have the mail forwarded to a seperate folder, and forwarded to another account. If I check "delete" (after it forwards to the other account), one would think that I would never receive the mail in the seperate folder.

Maybe the staff needs to rewrite their rules, or rethink the forwarding process..

Actually, this is the way Sieve is designed, and has nothing to do with FM decisions. This behavior was chosen intentionally, which you can find if you read the Sieve RFC

I'm not talking along the lines of sieve. I'm referring to the "newbie" way of filtering, ie through FM's interface.

I had the same question as soon as I started forwarding my email to my other email account.

I think this should be in the FAQ.
