David 22 Oct 2010 02:11 AM

BARN dance music is likely the most horrible music to listen to.

n5bb 22 Oct 2010 02:46 AM

Since I was BORN and have always lived in Texas, my musical tastes are rather broad (Bob Wills, Janis Joplin, Buddy Holly, Roy Orbison, Spoon).

SusanUKF 25 Oct 2010 09:37 PM

Some music can certainly BORE some people so much that they might fall asleep listenning to it.

janusz 25 Oct 2010 09:42 PM

The choice of music is still a BONE of contention in this thread, even though we discussed this matter before.

n5bb 26 Oct 2010 12:32 PM

But doesn't such a discussion help us to BOND?

janusz 29 Oct 2010 01:05 AM

Sometimes it drives me round the BEND...

David 29 Oct 2010 01:22 AM

It is oft times said that music can soothe the soul and send you to heaven.

somdcomputerguy 29 Oct 2010 04:10 AM

While a good friend may lend you an ear or a shoulder to help soothe your soul, a TRUE friend will be sittting next to you in the cell exclaiming, 'Whoa, that was alot of fun!!'

janusz 29 Oct 2010 04:23 AM

Oh dear, it seems that attempts to discuss musical preferences went down like a LEAD balloon ...

somdcomputerguy 29 Oct 2010 04:34 AM

Ah, but a Swan Song can be so beautiful. It almost brings a bead of teariness to my eye..

ok, I trust the lead balloon/swan song thing can be a sort of musical preference statement..

David 29 Oct 2010 04:43 AM

Aye, surely it is so! I recently read that Ovid once said (in "The Story of Picus and Canens")

"There, she poured out her words of grief, tearfully, in faint tones, in harmony with sadness, just as the swan sings once, in dying, its own funeral song

somdcomputerguy 29 Oct 2010 04:49 AM

I see this thread often switching the road it travels..

David 29 Oct 2010 05:16 AM

Thou woulds't goad the powers that be, who wish to speak of music :D

n5bb 29 Oct 2010 02:01 PM

If music isn't a safe subject, then how about a universal issue: "What is the GOAL of life?"

SusanUKF 30 Oct 2010 12:58 PM

Well; I wanted to think of an awesome reply but the only word that comes to mind to continue is GOAT!

Yes, I know it doesn't make a lot of sense or talk about the meaning of life, but it does correlate with the word Goal...

n5bb 30 Oct 2010 02:07 PM

Well, that's a better answer to the meaning of life than GOUT.

David 30 Oct 2010 02:33 PM

We could tout our wares on easy street but that would not even begin to resolve the meaning of life... or perhaps it would....

n5bb 30 Oct 2010 11:31 PM

In your TOUR of life, you might find Lazy Street adjacent to Easy Street. But this isn't guaranteed. ;)

David 30 Oct 2010 11:56 PM

To not let our dreams turn sour. Oh to live on easy street - it is just a dream for many!

Thank you for brightening my day :)

bramhall 1 Nov 2010 02:35 AM

I hope that sending us to heaven isn't the SOLE benefit of music.

SusanUKF 2 Nov 2010 04:45 AM

The ROLE of music is multi-faceted; enjoyment, entertainment, soothing us, etc.

n5bb 3 Nov 2010 10:38 AM

If I just had a MOLE of platinum every time I heard about the soothing power of music ...

SusanUKF 4 Nov 2010 07:56 PM

There will be many MORE types of music coming out over the years, I am sure. The Eightie's music is still classic and awesome, I think, and my kids love it too... !!

janusz 4 Nov 2010 08:43 PM

Happy are those for whom the 80's are the days of YORE :(

David 4 Nov 2010 10:31 PM

I promise not to bore anyone will music from the fourties and fifties, or have I already done that :D

janusz 4 Nov 2010 10:43 PM

I can bore you with BOER music ;)

n5bb 7 Nov 2010 12:29 AM

Maybe we can keep everyone happy with the BEER Barrel Polka, sung by the Andrews Sisters in days of yore. :D

janusz 7 Nov 2010 12:43 AM

BEAR in mind that the Beer Barrel Polka is a gender-independent song, recorded by the Andrews Sisters and the Mills Brothers ;)

n5bb 7 Nov 2010 01:04 AM

Let's pick up the BEAT with the Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy Of Company B.

SusanUKF 10 Nov 2010 03:31 AM

You could make a homemade instrument of sorts putting a BEAN or two (likely a lot more then that ofcourse) in a container and shaking it.

David 10 Nov 2010 03:45 AM

Methinks that I would very soon be a has been musical entrepreneur if I did that ;)

janusz 10 Nov 2010 06:23 AM

This homemade contraption full of beans (organic of course) would sound like the BREN gun.

n5bb 10 Nov 2010 11:17 AM

If you open your cupboard and can't find any BRAN, sing out "Hand me down that can o'beans" (lyrics).

janusz 10 Nov 2010 03:48 PM

May be bran can be imported from ORAN, though probably in boxes too large for the domestic cupboard. OTOH, the size of Texan cupboards is likely to be well above the world average:)

n5bb 12 Nov 2010 12:22 PM

You can buy a large cupboard in OMAN. So ya'll don't need to travel over here to Texas if you live in the middle east. If you still decide to come and visit our big 'ol state, we do have some big maps to help you find your away around our big state (in a very big map cupboard). As Big Tex at the State Fair of Texas in Dallas would say, "Howdy, Folks! Everything is big here in Texas."

Bill

David 12 Nov 2010 12:39 PM

You can get great food in Oban. Oban is not as big as Texas, but the seafood is good and the company is charming.

n5bb 13 Nov 2010 12:32 PM

BANG! The door slammed shut and noises are heard outside. Who let the dogs out?
.....

janusz 18 Nov 2010 05:27 PM

Let's return to the BANE of this thread: superheroes.
A new comic series features a female version of Spider-Man.

The (male) author says that: "Many comics still unfortunately draw women with incredibly large breasts. If they get knocked over they fall in a different way to men".

SusanUKF 19 Nov 2010 07:51 PM

That is terrific!! Hopefully she will be foiling some miscreants soon; such as, BANK robbers!
